DIFFERENCE BETWEEN READING AND STUDYING THE BIBLE.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN READING AND STUDYING THE BIBLE.

Isaiah 34:16 (KJV)..... *Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.*

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)..... *Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.*

Do you read the Bible? What about studying the Bible? Do you know that reading the Bible and studying the Bible are not the same? A lot of believers mistake one for another, but there are great differences between the two of them.

It is a matter of intensity and depth.

    • In reading, we gain breadth in our knowledge of scripture, while in study, we gain depth.

    • In reading, we usually cover one to four chapters a day, while in study, we probably spend a week or more digging into one chapter or even a small portion of a verse that is revealed to you.

    • In studying, we analyse the text, ask questions, compare it with other scripture, determine the meaning of key words and summarise in some ways and conclusions, but in reading, we just read through.

Both have their advantages, but you can't study without reading. And if you want to be a disciple, then you must go past just reading and begin to study. Be guided.

    Prayer:

Lord, I thank you for this truth and I ask that you help me read and study to get it right with the Spirit of understanding. Amen.
